Kitchen notes

Recipe status

Each recipe shows its status. Drafts contain proposed quantities; reconstructed recipes flag uncertain measures. Cooking times are estimates.

Timing

Long rests, chilling, and overnight waits appear after +, separately from the preparation and cooking session. Optional waits are marked. Short rests and cooling may remain in the session estimate. Follow the method for minimum waits and doneness.

Scaling

Use the − and + controls on any recipe to scale its ingredients. Temperatures and cooking times stay the same; pan size, crowding, and ingredient thickness still matter. For part of an egg, beat it first and weigh the amount you need.

Unit conversions

Original keeps each saved measure. Metric and US convert ingredients for display and follow the serving controls. Your choice also applies to the shopping list and transfer links. The method and recipe metadata retain the original measures.

≈ means approximate. Kitchen volume equivalents use 1 cup ≈240 ml, 1 tbsp ≈15 ml, and 1 tsp ≈5 ml. Gram-to-cup conversions use ingredient-specific reference weights. When a recipe supplies its own gram-and-cup pair, that source measure takes precedence. Flour is lightly filled and leveled, brown sugar is packed, and Sugar is assumed to be granulated white sugar. Weighing is more reliable for baking. Unknown densities keep their original weight or show metric volume with the original spoon/cup measure.

Shopping list

Add recipes with +, then adjust each recipe’s serving count on the shopping list. Matching ingredients with compatible units are combined. Kitchen volume conversions use 1 tsp = 5 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml, and 1 cup = 240 ml; weights and volumes remain separate when adding items. Display units can be changed without changing the totals. Different forms, such as whole lemon, lemon juice, and zest, stay separate so nothing is silently assumed.

Use “Have it” to set aside pantry items and check things off as you shop. To carry the list to another device, use “Send to phone” and copy the link. The link contains a snapshot of the list, including servings and checkmarks.

Storage and sharing

Your shopping choices are saved in this browser and do not sync automatically. A transfer link contains a snapshot that can be opened by someone who has access to this book. Search engines are asked not to index it; its sharing settings control who can visit.

Each recipe has its own address, visible ingredients and steps, plus standard recipe metadata. Compatibility with any particular recipe-import app has not been verified.
